Al-Ittihad Jeddah managed to qualify for the final of the Arab Championship after defeating Saudi youth 2-1 in a deadly time in the semi-final second leg.
Hijazi said on Abu Dhabi TV: “I was really nervous in the second half because of the yellow card and I thought I would not play the final.”
He continued, “The result was not in our favor, but perhaps not nervous, but he was keen to win.”
“This is one of the most important matches of the season,” Hegazy added. “Our main goal was to reach the final, and we have been preparing for it for some time with the management and the technical staff.”
And about not losing Al-Ittihad in 12 games since his arrival, he explained, “I must give the players their right, since the first training they help me to appear well.”
He stressed, “The loss or gain is calculated for the entire team, from the first board of directors to the technical staff, I seek to add to them.”
Speaking about the possibility of Ismaily qualifying for the club he grew up in, Hegazy said: “I wish them success and reach the final.”
Ismaily defeated Moroccan Raja with a goal without a response in the first-leg match, with the return match scheduled for next week.
“But I hope we will win because I belong to the federation, the team for which I play,” he added.
He concluded his remarks, “This is our goal to win the title and I wish Ismaili success in all tournaments.”
