“Al-Qosi” revealed the details of the international competition for the United Nations Committee for Space Affairs, in which the Egyptian Space Agency participated in, among 24 countries last April; To design a high-tech “space camera” to be installed on the International Space Station, and the agency won it as the first African and Arab space agency to achieve this scientific achievement.

He explained that this satellite camera was designed and manufactured 100 percent by Egyptian hands, as about 13 Egyptian researchers, including engineers and technicians, participated in its design and manufacture. This camera will be placed on the International Space Station and will allow Egypt to obtain “free of charge” high-resolution satellite images. Which are used for geological purposes, remote sensing, exploration and other applications that serve development efforts in Egypt.

He pointed out that the International Space Station is owned and operated by five parties, namely “America, Russia, Japan and Canada, as well as the European Space Agency”. It is considered a laboratory for research and experiments in space, and is used to test future space exploration systems and processes. It also works to improve the quality of life on Earth. Regarding President Sisi’s directives to optimize the use of the Egyptian satellite applications (Tiba-1), the head of the Egyptian Space Agency indicated that the satellite, which was launched in November 2019, will operate at full capacity during the second half of 2021, and will contribute to supporting the comprehensive development efforts implemented by the state. He said: “(Tiba 1) will provide a high level of communication technology, as this satellite will provide strong coverage for the Internet in Egypt, and provide digital services in particular that seek to provide digital services to citizens and data transfer services between different institutions, especially after what it enables from Providing an infrastructure for communications and the Internet for remote areas, which contributes to advancing development, especially with regard to government messaging networks that are being implemented to connect the entire state’s administrative apparatus, in connection with the application of modern systems for government work and in preparation for the transition to the new administrative capital.

He stressed that the moon has a great role in maximizing state resources, rationalizing consumption, enhancing, supporting and pushing the comprehensive development efforts that the state carries out on every inch of the land of Egypt, according to an accurate scientific plan that achieves optimal utilization and optimum utilization of Egypt’s natural, industrial and human resources to provide a decent life for the Egyptian citizen and put Egypt in the position It deserves it regionally and internationally, as well as contributing to the advancement of the oil, energy and other government sectors, and supporting all state agencies in the fight against crime and terrorism.

He added that the satellite will also contribute to providing broadband internet services for commercial purposes, and will work to provide a parallel network that supports the terrestrial network, as well as providing communications services at the international level in the Nile Basin countries, North Africa and the Middle East, as well as providing telecommunications services to the government sectors.
