Al-Shaarawy returned to Rome from Shanghai Shenhua, in the winter transfer market.
“It is true that I haven’t played for a while, so it will take some time to get back in shape,” Al Shaarawi told reporters.
“There is a lot of desire I have,” he stressed. “I walk through a fitness program that I follow every day and we’ll see how I progress and feel.”
And about the way Paulo Fonseca, the coach, said: “It is not very different. I will play in any role that the coach thinks is the best.”
“Fonseca has a slightly different system with game makers, but in reality it is not very different from what I am used to,” he added.
Al-Shaarawy played 139 matches with Roma before leaving and returning from Shanghai Shenhua after one and a half season.
“I did not feel that I left Rome and it was great to see everyone again. I am grateful for the confidence shown by the board of directors and I want to restore this confidence as soon as possible,” Al Shaarawi concluded.
