“The possibility of his departure in the summer is very great,” Struth said on the German “Sport 1” channel. “He decided to take his next step.”
“But his destination has not been decided yet,” he said.
And he added, “The value of the penalty clause in the player’s contract is estimated at 42.5 million euros. Only Bayern Munich and English clubs can cover the value of the deal.”
“The Spanish clubs cannot afford the deal value,” he said.
The German “Sport 1” and its newspaper, “Bild”, had indicated earlier that the player’s agent indicated that there is interest from two English clubs besides Bayern Munich to obtain the services of the French international defender.
Earlier reports suggested that Chelsea coach Thomas Tuchel was interested in adding Obamecano to his new team, alongside Liverpool coach Juergen Klopp, with great interest also from Manchester United and his coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 22-year-old joined Leipzig from Red Bull Salzburg in January 2017 with a sum of 10 million euros, and his current contract extends until the summer of 2023.
Obamecano participated in 25 matches this season in all competitions, during which he scored one goal and scored another.
