French President Emmanuel Macron condemned Moscow’s expulsion of European diplomats, on Thursday.

For its part, German Chancellor Angela Merkel considered that Moscow’s expulsion of European diplomats was “unjustified.”

She said, “Moscow’s expulsion of European diplomats will not remain without a response.”

The Polish Foreign Ministry announced that the Russian ambassador had been summoned to protest the expulsion of one of its diplomats in Moscow.

The protests erupted in Russia during the past days in support of Navalny and to demand his release from prison.

Russian authorities have arrested thousands of demonstrators under the pretext of participating in unauthorized protests.
