On Monday, a store in Boulder, Colorado, witnessed a mass shooting that left ten people dead, one of whom was a policeman who was the first to reach the site of the accident, and a suspect who was injured in the incident was arrested, authorities said in a press conference hours later.
Police did not give many details or the motive behind the accident, which occurred around 3 pm on Monday in the King Sobers grocery store in the Table Mesa area.
This is the second mass shooting incident resulting in deaths in the United States within one week, after eight deaths, including six women of Asian origin, were killed in three locations in and around Atlanta. A 21-year-old man was charged in that incident.
Boulder Police Chief Maryse Herold said 10 people were killed in the attack on the King Supers store, including a 51-year-old policeman who she said was the first to arrive at the site.
Police said they believed that the suspect they had arrested was the only seriously injured person who had survived.
Earlier, a video recording from the scene, broadcast by TV stations, showed a bare-chested bearded man being taken outside the store with his hands bound before he was put on a stretcher and taken to an ambulance. The detained man showed blood on his leg and was limping while walking.
