Ali Al-Alawi Al-Issa, 34-year-old brother of the suspect, told the American newspaper “The Daily Beast” that the authorities searched his home overnight after the shooting incident.
Al-Issa described his younger brother as “very anti-social” and paranoid, adding that in his high school days, he was talking about “stalking him, someone is behind him, someone is looking for him.”
Ali added that his brother, while “he was having lunch with my sister in a restaurant, said that” people are in the parking lot, looking for me. ” From mental illness.
Police said that the suspect was injured in the leg when he was detained on Monday afternoon, and footage from the scene showed Al-Issa, handcuffed and without a shirt or shoes, accompanied by two policemen while blood covered his leg. He is now in stable condition and is expected to be transferred to Boulder County Jail this afternoon, police said.
The authorities have not announced the motive behind the horrific killing, and said that the investigation is still in its preliminary stages and “it is too early for us to draw any conclusions at this time.”
Michael Schneider, an FBI agent, said, “I can tell you that the community is safe and we will continue to share updates as we conduct our investigation and come to conclusions from this investigation.”
The Boulder incident is the second major mass shooting in a week, and it comes just days after a gunman opened fire on three massage parlors in Atlanta, Georgia, killing eight people, including six Asian women.
Colorado was also the scene of some of the worst mass shootings in the United States, after the 1999 Columbine High School massacre that left 13 people dead. In 2012, an attack on a movie theater in Aurora killed 12 people.
