The Armenian national team continued its perfect start in the European qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup, scheduled in Qatar next year, after achieving an impressive 3/2 victory over its guest Romania team today, Wednesday, in the third round of the Group X matches of the qualifiers.
The balance of the Armenian team, which achieved its third successive victory in the group, rose to nine points, to lead with the full score so far, as it is three points ahead of its closest opponents, the German national team, which hosts the North Macedonia team later today in the same round.
On the other hand, Romania, which suffered its second consecutive loss in the group, stuck to three points in fourth place.
The first half was dull, as it was calm and empty during the real opportunity to score, unlike the second half, which was exciting and the outcome of the match remained suspended until the last minute.
The Armenian national team scored through its player Edward Spertsian in the 56th minute, but the Romanian team responded with two goals, signed by Alexandru Sikaldau, in the 62nd and 72nd minutes.
Romania was forced to play with 10 men after Jorge Puskas was sent off in the 78th minute for receiving a second warning.
The Armenian national team took advantage of the numerical shortage in the ranks of their opponent, to score Farazdat Haroyan the equalizer in the 82nd minute from a clear offside that the referee did not count in the absence of video technology in the match, before Tigran Parsigyan scored the precious winning goal in the 89th minute with a penalty kick.
