The Comoros national team has qualified for the next African Nations Cup finals to be hosted by Cameroon, after a goalless draw with Togo in the match that brought them together today, Thursday, in the group stage.
Togo was a guest on the Comoros Islands in the fifth round of the group stage of Group Seven, which includes Egypt and Kenya.
With that result, the Comoros national team raised its score to the ninth point, temporarily occupying the top of the group (before the Egypt-Kenya match) and resolving the first qualifying card for the group to the Alcan finals.
Qualified for the first time
This is the first time in the history of the Comoros that it qualifies for the finals of the tournament, from 1957 to 1974, the Comoros was under French occupation at a time when it was not yet affiliated with the Confederation of African Football from 1976 to 2002.
She did not participate in the qualifiers from 2004, while she did not qualify for the period from 2012 to 2019.
It is worth noting that the Egyptian national team will meet with its Kenyan counterpart at exactly 6 pm in the same round, and the Pharaohs need one point to settle the other qualifying card for the finals.
