The Gambia national team qualified for the finals of the African Nations for the first time in the history of the team after beating Angola with a clean goal in the fifth round of the qualifying rounds for the finals to be held in Cameroon.
The qualification of the Gambian national team comes to be the second team to go up to the championship for the first time through Thursday’s matches, after the Comoros Islands knew their way to the finals as well.
And the only goal of the match was scored by Asan Seesay in the 62nd minute of the match.
In another match in the same group, the Gabonese team managed to qualify as well, after winning three goals against the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The two teams won the Group D seats to qualify for the African Nations Cup finals, one round before the conclusion of the qualifiers.
