The national team secured the qualification card for the 2022 African Nations Finals to be held next January in Cameroon, after a draw with Kenya in Nairobi with one goal for each team in the fifth round of the qualifiers.

After winning the qualifying card, the Egyptian national team raised the number of times to qualify for the African Nations Cup finals to 25 times in its history, boosting its record in the league table qualifying for the continental competition.

The national team had advanced with an early goal scored by its player Mohamed Majdi “Afsha” after two minutes of the match, before the Kenyan team tied in the 65th minute with a goal scored by Abdullah Hassan.

The Egyptian team, after the draw against Kenya, raised its tally to 9 points, topping its group table on goal difference over the Comoros, while Kenyas score rose to 4 points in third place, two points behind Togo before a round of the end of the qualifiers.

It is noteworthy that the Egyptian team is the most crowned African Cup of Nations, with 7 tournaments as more than any other team on the continent.
