“I am disappointed. There were some good periods in the match, but there were some bad periods,” Smith said in remarks, most notably his club’s website.
He added, “Unfortunately, the bad periods are when we met the two goals, as well as Aston Villas lack of quality in the offensive third.”
“I think we played well and were the best team in the first half hour, but the Tottenham team scored a goal that reversed the game in the first half of the first attempt against our own goal,” he said.
“When you have good periods, you have to create opportunities and this is something we did earlier in the season and did not do it recently,” he said.
Smith played the trio Bertrand Traore, Ole Watkins and Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” in the front line against the London team.
“We have worked on it and sometimes the players have to look in the mirror like we do as a coaching staff,” he said.
Tottenham beat Aston Villa 2-0 at “Villa Park”, in a postponed match from the 18th round of the English Premier League.
Carlos Vinicius and Harry Kane scored Tottenham’s goals in the match.
