The Confederation of African Football (CAF) gave the green light to Nigerias Alex Ayoubi to participate against Lesotho on Tuesday, after the coronavirus tests were negative.

Lesotho will be a guest to Nigeria in the final round of the upcoming African Nations Cup qualifiers.

“The Confederation of Nigerian football allowed Alex Iwobi to play today’s match against Lesotho,” the Nigerian Confederation said in a statement.

The statement added, “Ayoubi’s test result for the Corona virus was positive a few days ago, when the Green Eagles arrived in Benin to meet their national team.”

The statement continued, “Ayoubi underwent new tests, the result of which was negative, and he is ready to participate against Lesotho.”

Nigeria defeated Benin 1-0 on Saturday in the fifth round matches of Group 12 of the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The victory raised Nigerias balance to 11 points, to ensure the Eagles top the group standings, while Benin stuck at 7 points in second place.

Nigeria officially qualified from the group to the African Cup of Nations, while the second card in the group was postponed to the final round on Tuesday.

The Benin national team will be a guest of Sierra Leone in the last round. The Benin national team will need to draw or lose by goal to qualify.

On the other hand, Sierra Leone will be required to win two goals over Benin to qualify for the African Cup of Nations by direct confrontation.
