Pedri is considered the successor to Iniesta in the eyes of many Barcelona fans, which was echoed by Ronald Koeman, coach of the team.
“Pedri and Iniesta are two different players,” said Enrique, in statements reported by the Spanish newspaper, Mundo Deportivo.
“Bedre must be allowed to make mistakes in order to learn from them,” he said.
He added, “Bidri has a desire (to succeed) and work. I have known him since he was in the national team under 21 years old.
Pedri, 18, got his first call-up to join Spain in the current international suspension.
Turning to talk about options for the list of the Spain national team, he said: “We decided to choose after holding meetings that lasted for long hours, whether they were face to face or via video.”
And about the possibility of playing Marcos Llorente as a winger, as he plays at Atletico Madrid, “It could happen, he plays like this with his team and I appreciate that.”
He praised Brian Khel, the player Eibar loaned from Seville, who joined the national team, and said: “I admire his abilities very much, and after my first conversation with him I realized his maturity.”
“His coach at Eibar (Jose Luis Mendelibar) deserves to be thanked for being with us,” he said.
And about his favorite player from Kylian Mbappe, the star of France, Paris Saint-Germain, Erling Haaland, Norway’s top scorer and Borussia Dortmund, he completed: “Because it is a hypothetical question, I will say either both or not.”
Spain is preparing to face Greece, Georgia and Kosovo, respectively, in the European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.
