Mohamed Salah, the former player and coach of Zamalek, criticized Patrice Carteron, the current coach of the team, after the latter’s statement that he found the team’s players “in a bad physical and psychological condition” after losing to Tunisias Esperance in the African Champions League.

Salah said toFilGoal.com: “I think that Carteron made a mistake. It is not permissible to criticize a former coach. The team received a remarkable condition, whether technically or physically. He must take advantage of the current international suspension by playing many friendly matches.”

“I tell him, as long as you played on the crowd, you should win the Egyptian League and the Cup,” he added.

Carteron took over the leadership of Zamalek, succeeding Jaime Pacheco, and in his first match, he lost to Esperance with a goal in Cairo, reducing the team’s chance to reach the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.

“There is nothing impossible in football,” Salah said. “I feel that MCA will lose points.”

Zamalek will play in the next round against its host Mouloudia of Algeria, before receiving Tounjeth, the Senegalese.

Zamalek ranks third in the group standings, with a score of 2 points, compared to 8 points for Mouloudia Algeria, the runner-up, and 10 for leaders Esperance.

Salah, coach Carteron, recommended giving Imam Ashour a greater chance, noting, “A joker player is bold and has many solutions.”

Ashour performed well with Zamalek this season, scoring 4 goals and sending 3 crucial passes in 16 matches he participated in.
