Nigeria players approved the decision to travel by boat to Benin to face its national team in the upcoming African Nations Championship qualifiers.

The Nigerian national team is looking to qualify for the 2021 African Cup of Nations when it visits Benin in the fifth round on Saturday.

The players have not objected to the Nigerian Football Association’s decision to transfer the team by boat to Benin as long as it is safe, according to Nigeria Today.

On Friday, the team will travel by boat to Benin due to air travel restrictions in order to curb the spread of the Coronavirus.

Nigeria striker Henry Onikuru said: “This will be the first time I travel by sea, but I don’t really mind.”

“All that matters to me and my teammates is to wear the Nigeria shirt, represent our country, and win the match,” added Mustafa Mohamed, a colleague in Galatasaray.

Nigeria is at the top of the group with 8 points, followed by the Benin team with 7 points, then Sierra Leone with 3 points, and Lesotho with two points.
