Al-Dardir said on Radio On Sport: “Zamalek completely rejects the decision, and lodged an official protest with the Basketball Association. We are waiting for a response.”
He stressed, “If the result is not in our favor, we will resort to the Settlement and Arbitration Center at the Olympic Committee. We insist on our right. We all know the circumstances. Almost all basketball matches were held in the presence of fans despite the ban.”
“What happened on March 21 was a confirmation of the decision, not a new one. The Basketball Association was supposed to impose sanctions on all clubs, not just Zamalek,” he stressed.
And he added, “Zamalek will play its matches normally. We only protest the result of the Al-Ahly match.”
He explained, “The first round match between the two clubs was held in the presence of the masses, and Zamalek did not object, and the second round match was evacuated, so what is the problem?”
He concluded, “There are a number of clubs allowed to attend. There were individuals affiliated with the Al-Ahly club, other than the members of its board of directors. Everything is documented with photos and videos.”
The Egyptian Basketball Federation had counted the canceled summit match, with Al-Ahly’s victory over Zamalek due to the presence of fans.
