Troubled hours lived by the family of the 9-year-old girl, Noreen, after she disappeared Monday evening, after leaving the house in a neighborhood of Fayoum to buy her mother’s birthday gift.
The family did not breathe a sigh of relief until after their missing child appeared in a video clip monitored by one of the surveillance cameras on Bahr Youssef Street, which bisects the city of Fayoum in two.
By emptying cameras, security personnel were able to monitor the suspect’s route, along with the victim’s child.
Major General Tharwat Al-Mahallawi, Deputy Director of Fayoum Security, had received notification from Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Masry, Commander of the Second Fayoum Department, of the disappearance of the 9-year-old girl, Noreen M.M., from Baghous district in Fayoum city.
A search team was formed, led by Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Sayed Daabs, head of the department’s investigations, with the participation of Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Tharwat Abdel Fattah, Inspector of Central District Investigations, under the supervision of Major General Sabry Al-Azab, Director of the Governorate’s Criminal Investigation Department, where the perpetrator was identified by tracking surveillance cameras.
Upon examination, it was found that the accused, Shaban M., 54 years old, works in picking up garbage. He kidnapped the child while collecting garbage from the street facing Algeria Street in front of a car showroom, and he drove with her to Ezbet Hanes, where the waste collection center is for garbage collection.
Then the accused escorted the child victim to the shelters in Kiman Faris, where he resides.
The child revealed, during the investigations conducted by the Public Prosecution, that she went out of her home yesterday evening to buy a birthday gift for her mother from one of the gift shops in the area of Baghos, and that she had strayed from the road leading to her home, so she asked the owner of the carriage who was standing next to one of the garbage bins on the Corniche Bahr Youssef.
Noreen added during the interrogations that the accused had deluded her to take her to her family and that he knew the location of her father’s house after he put me next to him on his carriage, and that she did not turn after that but the security men broke into the man’s house and returned it to my father’s lap.
The accused was arrested, accompanied by the child, and after investigations that lasted 5 hours, Islam Al-Mutawakkil, Prosecutor of Bandar Al-Fayoum, decided to detain the accused for 4 days pending investigations, on the grounds that he had lured a 9-year-old girl to his apartment in the accommodation housing Kiman Faris in the city of Fayoum.
