Manchester United midfielder, former Serbian international, Nemanja Matic, mocked the anger of Cristiano Ronaldo after Portugal and Serbia in the World Cup qualifiers.
The Serbian national team tied at home with its Portuguese counterpart, 2-2, last Saturday, in the second round of European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.
The match witnessed a controversial end, after a long ball behind the defenders of substitute Nuno Mendes reached Ronaldo in the area, and he followed it into the net before it was saved by Serbian defender Stefan Mitrovic, in the third minute of lost time (90 + 3).
Ronaldo strongly protested the decision of the arena referee and his assistant for not counting the goal despite the ball crossing the goal line before the Serbian defender pushed it away, so that the “Don” got a yellow card, and then threw the captaincy of Portugal on the field, and left the field very angry.
Matic decided to flirt with his Portuguese colleague in Manchester United, Bruno Fernandez, and Ronaldo, through his account on the “Instagram” site, by posting a satirical picture of the controversial goal.
The picture included a sarcastic falsification of the goal’s shot, showing the goal line moving back slightly, with the Serbian defender taking the ball out before it crossed the goal line.
Matic commented on the fake photo jokingly with Ronaldo and Fernandez, writing: “Only on the line, is everything clear now?”
It should be noted that Matic, 32, announced last year that he was retiring from international football, after playing 48 matches for Serbia.
