Al-Ahly coach Pitso Musimani confirmed that he is seeking to win against Al-Merrikh, Sudan, at his home stadium To settle qualification for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.
Musimani said in statements to the official Al-Ahly website that Al-Ahly will head to Sudan. With the aim of making a strong show, befitting the champions of the last edition of the African Champions League, and the most crowned teams in this tournament.
He continued: “Winning against Mars gives us an opportunity to achieve three goals, deciding to qualify, and continuing our way to lead our group through the Simba match after facing Mars, and the third goal is to send a message to all competitors, which is that Al-Ahly is always striving to win outside and inside its stadium.”
Musimani pointed out that Mars is a very difficult team, and it was closer and deserving of beating Simba in the last match, but it is football.
He continued: “It is not necessary that our start in the group league is the best, but the conclusion must be the best. The African Champions League is like the marathon, and what we care about is to reach our goal at the end of the race, and this is what we strive to achieve in the next two matches.”
Al-Ahly’s mission will fly to Sudan at 4 pm on Wednesday. In preparation for the Sudanese Al-Merrikh match scheduled for next Saturday in the fifth round of the African Champions League group stage competitions.
