On Sunday, the Indian Bollywood star, Priyanka Chopra, caused a sensation on social media, due to her statements about Islam during her television interview with the American media, Oprah Winfrey.

A promotional clip from the interview showed Chopra talking to Oprah about her religious upbringing. She also stated that she was “aware of Islam”, and indicated that her late father, Dr. Ashok Chopra, used to “sing in a mosque,” as she put it.

She said, “I grew up in a monastery school. I was aware of Christianity, and my father used to sing in a mosque. I was familiar with Islam. I grew up in a Hindu family. I was aware of this. Spirituality is a large part of India and you cannot really ignore it.”

Priyanka Chopras statement about “singing in the mosque” aroused the mockery of social media users, denounced the singing of people inside the mosques, and criticized the way Priyanka spoke about being “aware of Islam”. Many asked her about which mosque she spoke, while others mocked Priyanka’s statement and said Unfortunately, they are still not aware of Islam because their father has never sung in a mosque.

Priyanka Chopras interview with Oprah Winfrey will be broadcast in full on “Discovery Plus”, next Wednesday.

And last Monday, Chopra and her husband Jonas, from London, announced the nominations for the 93rd Oscar Awards, which will be held this April.

And early last month, the Bollywood star topped the Google search engine after breaking into business by launching her own hair care brand.

On her Instagram account, Chopra announced the launch of the “Anomaly” brand, which is characterized by being completely vegetarian, environmentally friendly and affordable.
