Regional spokesman for the US State Department, Samuel Warberg, confirmed, on Wednesday evening, that his country is aware of the importance of the Nile River to the peoples of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia and is ready to provide any assistance to reach a peaceful solution to the Renaissance Dam crisis, according to his statements reported by Sky News Arabia.
The US State Department regional spokesman urged the parties to the Renaissance Dam crisis to reach a negotiated solution and avoid unilateral steps, noting that his country is coordinating with all parties to solve the Renaissance Dam crisis.
And earlier in the day; The Ethiopian ambassador to Cairo, Marcus Tekle Riki, announced today, Wednesday, that negotiations on the Renaissance Dam with Egypt and Sudan will soon be resumed, to reach a satisfactory agreement with all parties under the auspices of the African Union.
Ricky added, during a press conference held today at the headquarters of the Ethiopian embassy in Cairo: “We have not formally communicated with Ethiopia about the quartet of mediation committee proposed by Sudan, and we only heard about it from the media.”
