The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced, on Monday, the exclusion of the Chadian national team from the qualifiers for the African Nations Cup.
In his official position, Caf said that the reason is the suspension of the Chadian Football Federation by the country’s Ministry of Youth and Sports.
CAF canceled the scheduled matches for Chad against Namibia and Mali in the 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The African Union stated that Article 61 and Article 64 of the CAF Regulations considers the Chadian national team a loser in both matches against Namibia and Mali, in Group A competitions that also include Guinea.
The Chad team was already out of the race to qualify for the finals that will be held in Cameroon early next year after collecting one point from the first four rounds, while Mali leads the group with 10 points, followed by Guinea in second place with 8 points, and Namibia is third with 3 points. points.
It is noteworthy that the fifth round of qualifiers for African nations will start next Wednesday, and Chad was scheduled to face its Namibian counterpart.
