Lieutenant-General Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority, said that President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi was following daily efforts to float the stranded ship.
“Rabei” added, during a press conference on Monday evening, after the Panamanian container ship was successfully floated and the navigation traffic returned to the canal: “Three scenarios have been developed for the ship to float since the first day, which is the scenario of hauling, dredging, and unloading the ship.”
He explained: “The plan was worked on and completed without resorting to the third scenario.” He continued: “President Al-Sisi was following the situation .. and when I told him that there are 3 scenarios to end the crisis, he told me whether all the scenarios are available, I told him the discharge scenario is not available and not ready due to a shortage. Equipment .. He immediately told me the tools of the 3 scenarios are there, whether or not I use them because people’s interests are not a game. It is necessary as soon as we finish the task.
He continued: “Persistence in work and sincerity are among the reasons for success,” stressing: “We will increase the authority’s capabilities to face any crises … and we succeeded in floating the delinquent ship without unloading its cargo.”
