Portugal and Serbia shared the lead in Group A of European qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup Qatar.
The Portuguese national team defeated Luxembourg 1/3, while Serbia defeated its host Azerbaijan 2/1 today, Tuesday, in the third round of the qualifiers.
Portugal raised its score to seven points in the lead, with a goal difference only from Serbia, while Luxembourg has three points in third place, and Azerbaijan remained without points.
At Jose Barthel Stadium, Gerson Rodriguez advanced to Luxembourg in the 30th minute, but Diego Guetta responded with a goal for Portugal in the final seconds of the first half.
Captain Cristiano Ronaldo added the second goal for Portugal in the 51st minute, and Joao Palinia ensured the third goal in the 80th minute.
And at the Baku Olympic Stadium, Alexander Mitrovic took the lead in the 16th minute, and then Emin Makhmodov of Azerbaijan drew from a penalty kick in the 59th minute.
Nine minutes before the end, Mitrovic scored the second goal for him and Serbia.
