Spanish star Sergio Ramos, defender of Real Madrid and the Spanish national team, is preparing to return and participate with his country in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, which will be held in Qatar.
The Spanish national team will play 3 matches during the current international break, against Greece, Georgia and Kosovo on March 25, 28 and 31.
Captain Ramos is seeking to take another step on the road to equaling the record for the number of international matches played by any player with his country’s national team in his football career.
Ramos had raised his total international appearances with Spain to 178 international matches in the sixth round of Group Four matches in the European Nations League Championship, Germany.
Ramos equaled at the time the number of two Arab players, former Saudi goalkeeper Muhammad Al-Deayea and veteran Kuwaiti football star Badr Al-Mutawa.
And Ramos shared third place with the Arab players in the list of most players participating with their national teams in international matches, one match behind Omani Ahmed Mubarak (Kano).
The Spanish captain aims, through his participation in the next three matches for his country, to continue chasing the number of Egyptian star Ahmed Hassan, who tops the list with 184 games.
Ramos only needs to participate in six matches to equal the number of Falcon Ahmed Hassan, to win the title of “Dean of the World Players.”
