Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, during his presidency today of the meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Management of the Coronavirus Crisis, in the presence of a number of ministers and officials, confirmed that this meeting came with the aim of announcing the precautionary rules and procedures that must be applied and adhered to during the blessed month of Ramadan, in the context of caution. On the avoidance of causing some customs that Egyptians used during the holy month to cause a new increase in the number of people infected with the “Corona” virus, similar to what happened last year.

The Prime Minister stressed that the state will implement with the utmost firmness the precautionary measures that are taken and that must be followed during the holy month of Ramadan to protect the health and safety of citizens and society, especially with regard to the obligation to wear a mask, especially in gathering places, with continuous monitoring of the means of mass transport, while collecting the fines imposed on Immediately, to reduce complacency in this matter.

The Supreme Committee for the Management of the Coronavirus Crisis decided to allow prayers in mosques as well as Tarawih prayers during the month of Ramadan, provided that all precautionary measures are applied, with a commitment to reduce Tarawih prayers, so that they do not exceed half an hour.

It was also agreed not to allow the establishment of any Ramadan tables, as well as not to allow i’tikaaf or tahajjud prayer in mosques, and to emphasize the prohibition of holding any large gatherings in closed places, such as mourning marquees, or celebrations in the role of events, with an emphasis on that there will be continuous follow-up. From the Ministry of Endowments and the concerned authorities to implement these procedures and adhere to them.

The committee also decided to implement the summer appointments for closing and opening shops, restaurants, etc., starting from Saturday, April 17th, and to assign the ministers of tourism, antiquities and local development to issue the necessary decisions, while adhering to the prescribed presence rates that ensure public safety in restaurants, cafeterias, and others.

During the meeting, it was agreed to resume the various junior sports competitions; To give sports incentive to students of different educational levels, and not to allow Ramadan courses to be held in open or closed places.

Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, presented a report dealing with the results of a comparison between the first and second wave of the emerging “Corona” virus, with regard to the rate of infections and deaths, as the minister confirmed that the comparison revealed an increase in the number of infections during the first wave of the pandemic, coinciding with the month of Ramadan 2020 Especially in the second week of the holy month, and an increase in the number of deaths followed in the third week of the holy month, indicating in this regard the need to maintain social distancing measures and wear masks in anticipation of the coming period, and not allow gatherings in closed places.

Dr. Hala Zayed pointed out that the strictness in taking precautionary measures, especially wearing masks, was the most effective measure on the decrease in the number of “Corona” virus infections during the first wave, compared to other precautionary measures that were taken in March 2020, such as closing schools and banning flights. And a partial curfew is prohibited, which imposes the continuation of these measures.

Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, presented to the Supreme Committee a number of recommendations related to safe practices during the month of Ramadan to limit the spread of the “Corona” virus. With regard to mosques, the ministry recommended adherence to the physical distance between the attendees when sitting and standing, and to define fixed places for prayer, with Regulating the number and flow of people when attending and leaving places of worship, as well as disinfecting mosques with disinfectants between each prayer and the next, closing all water coolers in mosques, in addition to the need to wear a muzzle, bring a special prayer rug, and not accompany children, and elderly people and people with chronic diseases are also advised to pray at home .

During the meeting, the minister also reviewed the position of receiving vaccines at the level of Egypt and the world, as well as the position of providing and manufacturing vaccines for the “Corona” virus in Egypt, noting that starting from tomorrow, about 854 thousand doses are expected to arrive, through cooperation with the “Covax” dry.

With regard to developments in the clinical situation of the emerging “Corona” virus, the Minister indicated that there are new symptoms that may appear on a “Corona” virus patient, including severe inflammation of the eye membrane, and the spread of a rash, as well as the sense of hearing affected, the occurrence of pain and palpitations, as well as Fatigue and severe pain in the body, in addition to a headache.

For his part, Major General Mahmoud Tawfiq, Minister of the Interior, confirmed that he had directed to double campaigns to control violations, whether those resulting from not wearing the muzzle inside mass transport, or in commercial centers, interests and government agencies.

Major General Mahmoud Shaarawi, Minister of Local Development, also presented the measures taken by the executive bodies in the governorates. To follow up on the implementation of the precautionary measures, and in this regard, the Minister indicated the number of shops and cafes that a decision was made to close them Since it violated previous decisions regarding precautionary measures.

Major General Bahaa El Din Zeidan stressed during the meeting of the Supreme Committee for the Management of the Coronavirus Crisis, that there is full cooperation between the Ministries of Health and Population, and Higher Education and Scientific Research. In order to provide all medicines and medical supplies, adding that sufficient quantities of oxygen are available.
