Mounia Fateh, the stylist of the series “The King … Good Struggle”, responded to the criticisms leveled against the artists’ clothes after the official promo of the series.

Mounia told FilFan.com, “The work is a first-class drama and not a history of the rule of Egypt in that era. We are not committed to the life story of King Ahmose at all, but rather it is a different drama consisting of 30 episodes, and the series includes the story of King Ahmose’s liberation of Egypt and the expulsion of the Hyksos,” Dramatic format, not documentary chronicling that era and its events.

Regarding the criticism that the series’ promo received due to the appearance of Reem Mustafa wearing a black cloak in this historical era, Monia said: First, the character of Reem Mustafa belongs to the Hyksos within the events of the series, and the references for the clothes of that era, especially related to Hyksos, were very few, and we used information engraved on only two frescoes. They mentioned these clothes, and for the flag, Reem’s costume is not a cloak, but a black pharaonic costume, which is proven according to the historical references responsible for the series, but there is also the director’s vision that imposes itself of course on the image and the text.

As for the appearance of Amr Youssef in torn and worn clothes indicating poverty, despite the fact that Ahmose was king at an early age, the series costume designer explained that it is up to the director who wanted to narrate drama and not historical events, and his appearance in the chest was a common matter in ancient Egypt.

The costume designer for the King series rejected the criticisms that the work received early before its presentation, noting that international films related to that historical era, such as “Cleopatra”, did not receive such criticism, but rather received many praises despite containing similar errors in clothes.

And she continued, saying: When we present a historical drama, we are criticized for claiming that we document events in a wrong way, and this is not true, so we present a drama.

And about how long it took to design the series ‘costumes, she said: Designing the series’ clothes took a whole month, during which we studied that period of time and selected the materials and costumes closest to it, in addition to designing the clothes of soldiers, kings, princes, priests and all classes that would appear at work.

Mounia explained that the series includes a large crowd of artists and artists in events that span over 30 episodes, so the diversity of costumes must be avoided to prevent the similarity that might overwhelm the costumes of the heroines and work heroes in light of their attempts to present fashion close to the reality of the ancient Egyptians to a large extent.

Mounia added that the series includes the story of Ahmose’s liberation of the Egyptians from the rule of the Hyksos in a dramatic form, and it is not a documentary that chronicles that era and its events, as it does not tell the story of King Ahmose from beginning to end.

Mounia pointed out that international films related to that historical era, such as “Cleopatra”, did not receive criticism, but rather received many accolades despite containing similar errors in clothes. But when we present a historical drama, we are subjected to criticism under the pretext that we document the events in a wrong way, and this is not true. drama.

As for the criticisms of Reem Mustafas costume and its analogy to the black cloak, Monia said that the references on the clothes of that era, especially the Hyksos, were very few and that they used only two walls, pointing out that Reem’s costume is not a cloak but a black Pharaonic costume, pointing to the existence of a historical historian for the series But this matter expresses the director’s point of view.

Mounia added that Reem Mustafa appeared in the series belonging to the Hyksos who ruled Egypt for more than 100 years, so their clothes were influenced by the Pharaonic traditions, noting that she relied in costumes on ancient references and texts.

Mounia indicated that many actresses participate in the series in events that extend to 30 episodes, so it is necessary to have a variety of costumes, otherwise they will look similar to a large extent, and try to bring the Pharaonic costume as close as possible.

As for the appearance of Amr Youssef in a torn costume, a number that he is a king, Mounia indicated that it is up to the director who wanted to narrate drama and not historical events, and his appearance in the vest was a common matter in ancient Egypt.

As for the time Monia spent in fashion design, it lasted for a whole month.
