Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, said that there is still an opportunity to reach an agreement in the Renaissance Dam crisis, so that there is no tension in the tripartite relations between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia.
In statements to the program “Happening in Egypt” via MBC Egypt, on Wednesday evening, Shukry added that the time is currently short, and if there is no full involvement of all parties in the negotiations, time will not help, stressing that the second filling of the Renaissance Dam, which is Ethiopia intends to do, is a second breach of the agreement of principles after the first filling, which cannot be allowed.
He continued: “If the first time is passed, this time it is not possible … and what it will pose in terms of danger to Sudan may make the matter go beyond the stages of negotiation again.”
He pointed out that putting the crisis before the Security Council again by Egypt or Sudan is one of the scenarios put forward, noting that international parties, the United Nations and the European Union welcome their contribution to solving the crisis.
