The head of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice, Sheikh Abd al-Rahman al-Sanad, revealed the ruling on watching cartoons.
Al-Sanad said during the program “Istftounak”: “If cartoon films are for education and the cultivation of virtuous morals and the matters that the child should be brought up on and benefit him, then there is nothing wrong with them even if they include pictures.”
The chain of narrators cited the position of the Prophet, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, when he saw with Aisha a horse game with two wings and laughed, and he did not deny the existence of these games.
He added, “This indicates that children need some things like that, to get them used to the good things in old age.”
He continued, “Some children become attached to bad cartoons, so having useful programs for Muslim children is a good thing.”
