President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said that the Egyptian water security issue was discussed during the summit he held with Tunisian President Qais bin Said.
Al-Sisi added, during a joint press conference, a short while ago: We addressed the issue of Egyptian water security and emphasized the need to preserve Egypt’s water rights, considering this issue a fateful issue.
Al-Sisi continued: The Tunisian president appreciated Egypt’s efforts to reach a fair and comprehensive agreement regarding the rules for filling and operating the Renaissance Dam.
They also discussed prospects for joint action on the African arena and how to support African action in light of the important role of Egypt and Tunisia in this regard.
Tunisian President Qais bin Said said that the national security of Egypt is the security of Tunisia, and that any position of Egypt in any international forum will be the same as that of Tunisia.
He added in a joint press conference with President Sisi at the Federal Palace: I say this with complete conviction, because we have read history well and look forward to the future, and we will not accept that Egypt’s water security be compromised, referring to the Renaissance Dam crisis.
