Mohamed Magdy Afsha, the player of the first team at Al-Ahly club, confirmed that the Red Genie would still remember today’s match against Al-Merrikh, calling on the players of the Red Castle not to turn away or surrender.
Al-Ahly had decided its qualification for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, after it drew two goals against Sudan’s Al-Merrikh for each team, in the match that took place at the Blue Jawhara Stadium on Saturday evening in the fifth round.
Afsha wrote through his personal account on the Instagram platform: “Praise be to God, congratulations to all Al-Ahly fans for going up. Perhaps it was not the best match, but the most important thing in it is that you do not lose while you are bad.”
He added, “A match that we will remember a lot to learn from. We know fully the responsibility of representing the Al-Ahly club, and I say to all my sisters, the players, neither retreat nor surrender. We, Al-Ahly, and our goal is known. Ahead, man, the next is better, God willing.”
Al-Ahly is preparing to face Simba of Tanzania in the sixth and final round of the group stage of the African Champions League, in a toll match scheduled for next Friday.
