Egypt’s Al-Ahly club qualified for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League, after it tied its host Al-Merrikh, Sudan (2-2) in the match that brought them together today, Saturday, in the fifth round of the tournament.
Al-Sudani, Ramadan Ajab, scored the goal for Al-Merreikh in the 26th minute, with a superb header in the far right corner.
Al-Merreikh striker, Saif Terry, doubled the score for him, in the 36th minute, with a shot from inside the penalty area, after he was alone from the left side.
While Ramadan wonder missed a golden opportunity to boost the progress of the home side, in the last seconds of the first half, by wasting a penalty kick, as his ball passed next to the left post.
Moroccan defender Badr Bannon narrowed the difference to Al-Ahly in the 80th minute of a penalty kick, and then his teammate Yasser Ibrahim equalized in the deadly time in the last minute of the calculated time instead of the goods from the age of the match that took place at the Al-Merrikh Stadium in Omdurman.
Al-Ahly club raised its score to 8 points, in the runner-up position in Group A, thus ensuring its early qualification to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
While Mars raised his score to two points, and remained in the last fourth place.
Al-Ahly was accompanied, to the quarter-finals of the African Championship, the Tanzanian team, Simba, the group leader with 13 points, who beat its visitors, Vita Club, the Congolese, who finished third with 4 points.
