Khaled Al-Darandali, treasurer of Al-Ahly club and head of Al-Ahmar’s mission in Sudan’s trip, revealed the scenes of what happened between Mohamed El-Shennawy, the captain of the team and Mohamed Hani, during the Al-Merrikh match in the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly had tied with Sudanese Al-Merrikh with two goals for each team, so Al-Ahmar booked the qualification card for the quarter-finals of the championship that holds its title.
“We were not happy with the team’s performance and put us in a difficult position, but the spirit did not disappear. We returned to the match and we achieved the goal, which is to qualify, but we are not happy,” Al-Dirndali said during statements on “Ontime Sports”.
And the treasurer of Al-Ahly club continued: “The problem ended in a moment, and Al-Shennawi and Hani shook hands between the two halves of the match. Perhaps the crisis was due to the excessive enthusiasm of the players during the match.”
And he continued: “Everything was liquidated in his time between the two halves. We did not see this shot, and what happened as a result of enthusiasm and tightening nerves, and Muhammad Al-Shennawi is a leading man and his behavior is by everyone.”
Khaled Al-Darandali concluded his remarks: “I did not see the scene of the crisis, so we left the stadium early, accompanied by the Egyptian ambassador to Sudan.”
The Red Genie mission arrived at Cairo Airport on Saturday evening, after performing the Sudanese match between Al-Merrikh in the fifth round of the group stage of the African Champions League..
It is worth noting that the Red Devils are ranked first in Group A with 8 points, and Simba leads with 13 points, while the Vita Club is in third place with 4 points, and Mars is trailed by two points only.
