Al-Masry Al-Youm obtained the first pictures of the site of the Toukh train accident and the repairs taking place on the railway tracks after the accident occurred, Monday, which caused 11 deaths and 98 injuries, in addition to the suspension of trains from Lower Egypt.
Lieutenant-General Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport and Major General Abdel Hamid Al-Hajjan, Governor of Qalyubia, had moved to the site of the accident today, Monday, where maintenance of the train tracks is being carried out.
Lieutenant General Kamel Al-Wazir confirmed that work is underway to rehabilitate the area of the accident by replacing new bars in place of the ones affected by the accident, stressing the speed of the return of work.
The “minister” indicated during his presence with Major General Abdel Hamid Al Hajjan, Governor of Qalyubia, that he rejects any attempts to partially restore the movement, except after full confirmation of the efficiency of the line again, which requires patience until the work is completed in the fullest manner, calling for the need to be careful and accurate in this Business, in order to preserve lives, and so that no passenger is injured, regardless of their size
Major General Abdel Hamid Al Hajjan, Governor of Qalyubia, said that the continuation of the state of emergency in maintaining all levels to remove the effects of the accident and follow-up on the condition of the injured, many of whom were discharged from hospitals, stressing that the governorate’s apparatus, especially that the hospitals were up to the responsibility, and the Qalioub hospitals, including the General and Benha, have succeeded. Al-Jami and Kafr Shukr to withstand the large number of deaths and injuries.
