Berlin – (AAA):
President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed that security should not come at the expense of freedom, even in a country that lives in difficult conditions like Egypt, denying the imprisonment of anyone in Egypt for his political views.
President Sisi said, in an interview with the widespread German newspaper “Die Welt”, that criticism is allowed for everyone, but it should be “constructive criticism and not incitement.”
Regarding the allegations of a number of organizations that there are a large number of political prisoners in Egypt, President Al-Sisi said: “We do not imprison anyone because of his political views. But do not forget that we are dealing with the Brotherhood with a group that has been working for 90 years to reach power in Egypt. After a year, the people stood against them. The Muslim Brotherhood were not dealing with the huge problems in the country.
The president added, “I wanted to prevent the Egyptians from falling into this so that Egypt would not fall like other countries. We want to become a constitutional state. All that is, we are a country with a population of 100 million and we are facing a harsh reality.”
