Commander of the US Central Command’s naval forces: Egypt is the key to security and stability in the Middle East

Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled, Commander of the Naval Forces, Lieutenant General Samuel Babaro, Commander of the Naval Forces of the US Central Command, Commander of the Fifth Fleet, Commander of the Combined Maritime Force (CMF) and his accompanying delegation met at the Naval Forces Headquarters at Ras al-Tin Naval Base in Alexandria, during his official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The two sides held a session of talks that dealt with supporting military cooperation relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries, coordinating efforts on ways to confront common threats and challenges with regard to the security and stability of the region, and maximizing Egypt’s participation in the CMF in line with Egypt’s pivotal role as an influential power in the region.

The commander of the naval forces of the US Central Command affirmed his country’s keenness to increase maritime cooperation with Egypt through expansion in the field of joint exercises, explaining that Egypt represents the key to security and stability in the Middle East region.

For his part, Lieutenant General Ahmed Khaled praised the development of the joint military cooperation relations between the navies of both friendly countries, especially in the technical fields, the transfer and exchange of experiences in maritime security operations, the field of cybersecurity, and joint training.

The meeting was attended by a number of commanders of the Egyptian and American naval forces.
