Aston Villa coach Dean Smith said his player Mahmoud Trezeguet had finally deserved to score after a long absence from scoring.

Trezeguet grabbed the spotlight after entering a substitute in the second half and scoring twice to overturn Aston Villa Trailed to a dramatic victory over Fulham in the final minutes.

Smith said after the match in statements to the BBC: “Of course we expect the substitute players to make the difference in their entry.”

He added: “Trezeguet was the key to victory. He entered and made the difference and took advantage of the opportunities that were available to him.”

Smith continued: “Last season after resumption of activity there were 10 games remaining and Trezeguet appeared very strongly at that time. He deserved to score 3 or 4 goals already this season.”

He explained, “Trezeguet is happy with the influence he left today on the team.”

He concluded: “Trezeguet was unlucky this season and missed many chances, but he scored twice today and won us a victory.”

The victory raised Aston Villas balance to 44th in ninth place, while Follam froze at the 26th point in 18th place.

Trezeguet participated in the 62nd minute instead of Anwar Al Ghazi, after Aston Villa met Mitrovic’s goal.

Trezeguet scored twice in 3 minutes before Watkins added a third to kill the match.
