Ahmed Mujahid, head of the tripartite committee in charge of managing the Football Association, revealed that Jabaliya had sent a letter to Liverpool Club to request the presence of Mohamed Salah with the Egyptian national team in the Tokyo Olympics 2020.

Mujahid spoke on MBC Egypt, saying: “We sent a letter to Liverpool on the next day to meet Comoros against the Egyptian national team, expressing our desire for Mohamed Salah to be with the Egyptian national team in the Tokyo Olympics based on the desire of the Olympic coach Shawky Gharib.”

He added, “We have received a response that the matter is currently under consideration between the club’s technical and administrative staff and Mohamed Salah.”

Mujahid continued, “I am sure and this is on my responsibility that Salah has a desire to be present and defend the Egyptian national team shirt as long as he can help, but in the end the matter is not in his hands only.”

And he added, “We hope that our request will be accepted by Liverpool.”

When asked whether the Egyptian league will be canceled, Mujahid replied, “There is no talk about that. It is natural because of the length of the season and the large number of interruptions and pressure that falls on many teams due to the large number of matches.”

He added, “I assure everyone that the league will not be canceled and will end at the end of next September.”

When asked about the details of his session with Hossam El-Badry, the coach of the Egyptian national team, and Mohamed Barakat, the national team manager, he commented, “It was a session in which we discussed the requirements of the coming period, as we will start the 2022 World Cup qualifiers next June, with two matches against Angola in Egypt and Gabon outside our stadium.”

Mujahid concluded, “Then we will face Libya in two strong matches, so we must prepare well.”
