Ramadan Sobhi, a Pyramids player, stressed the ability of the Egyptian Olympic team to achieve outstanding results in Tokyo 2020.

Egypt signed in the same group with Spain, Argentina and Australia in the iron group for the Tokyo Olympics.

“Egypt’s group in the Olympics is difficult, but the 16 teams are all strong,” said Sobhi, via the Pyramids media center.

He added, “Our generation can qualify from the group and reach the furthest point. Shawky Gharib used to talk to us about the Tokyo competitions before even winning the African Championship.”

He praised his Pyramids teammates after qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals with a precious victory over the Zambian Nkana.

Sobhi said: “The Nkana match was very difficult to be held at 3 pm in Ramadan, but we managed to win and rise to the next league.”

He concluded: “Pyramids, the summer of the last edition, and we want to go far, but we will deal with the tournament step by step.”

Ramadan Sobhi made Pyramids’ only goal in the victory over Nkana, which was enough to overtake the group stage for the second consecutive season.

Ramadan Sobhi won the best player award in the African U-23 Nations that promoted the Pharaohs to the Olympics.
