FilGoal | News | Tariq Suleiman on the error of Ikrami: one of the reasons for his lack of participation with Al-Ahly

Tariq Suleiman, the former Al-Ahly goalkeeper coach, said that the mistake of Sherif Ikrami, the Pyramids goalkeeper, in losing his team 2-0 to Moroccan Raja in the Confederation, may be due to his failure to participate with Al-Ahly before his departure.

Suleiman spoke to Sada Al-Balad channel, saying, “In 6 or 7 years at Al-Ahly with Sherif Ikrami, he had mistakes, but we dealt with them in a distinctive way. The goalkeeper must feel confident in the eyes of his coach.”

He explained, “In the first leg of the 2012 CAF Champions League final against Esperance, Sherif Ikrami made a mistake in a ball that caused a goal for Esperance. I could not go out of the house, but in Rades, Sherif Ikrami was the star of the first team in the match. That position was repeated more than once.”

“Maybe Sherif Ikrami’s lack of focus in the Al Raja goal ball. The performance was improving in the recent period after a bad start, but a mistake like that brought it back some steps back,” he stressed.

He concluded, “Among the reasons for these mistakes was his failure to participate with Al-Ahly in the last period before his departure and the participation of Muhammad Al-Shennawi.”

Raja defeated Pyramids with two unanswered goals in the third round of the CAF groups. (See details)
