The German province of Bavaria announced that it is negotiating an initial contract to obtain 2.5 million doses of the Russian “Sputnik” vaccine against the emerging corona virus “Covid-19”, provided that it is approved by the European Medicines Regulatory Authority.
The provincial governor, Marcus SOder, who belongs to Chancellor Angela Merkel’s party, said Wednesday that this initial contract was signed today, Wednesday, adding that if Sputnik is approved in Europe, the state of Bavaria will receive additional doses of the vaccine «amounting to 2.5 million in The coming months.
The German official indicated that negotiations took place with a pharmaceutical company in an area located in the city of Aylertien in Bavaria that is capable of manufacturing the Russian vaccine.
Earlier, the German official called on the European Medicines Regulatory Authority to accelerate its approval of the use of the Russian vaccine.
Russia was the first country to register an anti-Coronavirus vaccine.
