Archaeological researcher Tamer Al-Minshawi revealed the most important figures of kings and presidents who were keen to visit the royal mummies in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, which had been in it for about 119 years before they were transferred to their final headquarters in the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat later on Saturday.

Al-Minshawi pointed out – in a press statement today – to the visit of the late leader Gamal Abdel Nasser and Alexei Kosygin, Prime Minister of the Soviet Union, on May 11, 1966, to the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir and to see the mummy of King Ramses II, explaining that during the era of the late President Muhammad Anwar Sadat, he visited and inaugurated the Hall of War and Peace. 1979 in the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir, which includes the mummy of King Ramses II, in the presence of Jihan Sadat and MP Muhammad Hosni Mubarak at that time.

He said that during the era of President Sadat, an Egyptian passport was extracted for King Ramses II to travel to Paris. With the aim of scientific examination on the mummy of King Ramses II since September 26, 1976 AD, the mummy stayed during this period in the Museum of Man in Paris until a comprehensive examination was conducted on it until it reached the homeland on May 10, 1977

Al-Minshawi presented a list of the most prominent names of kings and presidents who flocked to visit the museum during the past years, including: Mrs. Andrea Gandhi, who visited the museum on July 9, 1966, Queen Farah Pahlavi, the wife of the Shah of Iran on February 24, 1974, and Leopold Senghor, President of the Republic of Senegal on October 22, 1980. Francois Mitterrand, President of France, also visited the museum twice, the first was in 1985 and the second in 1986.

He added that Jacques Chirac, the former President of France, visited the museum on April 7, 1996, President Jiang Zemin, President of the People’s Republic of China on May 14, 1996, Chandrika Camaratunga, President of Sri Lanka on July 15, 1996, Oscar Luigi Scalfaro, President of the Republic of Italy on November 30, 1996, and Beatrix, Queen of the Netherlands in November 18, 1997.

The archaeological researcher noted that Hillary Clinton, wife of former US President Bill Clinton, visited the museum on March 21, 1999, King Mohammed VI of Morocco on May 24, 2000, and Ryutaro Hashimoto, former Prime Minister of Japan, on October 30, 2001.

He revealed the visit of Prince Charles, Crown Prince of England and his wife Camilla on March 20, 2006, Queen Rania, wife of King Abdullah of Jordan on March 29, 2006, Prince Philip, Crown Prince of Belgium on May 26, 2008, and Prince Albert of Monaco on December 29, 2010.

It is noteworthy that this evening, 22 mummies of the kings and queens of Egypt will be transported in a majestic procession from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir for display at its permanent headquarters inside the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat, and it includes 18 mummies of kings, and 4 mummies of queens, including the mummies of King Ramses II, King Seqnen Ra, and the King Thutmose III, King Seti the First, Queen Hatshepsut, Queen Meritamun, wife of King Amenhotep the First, and Queen Ahmose-Nefertari, wife of King Ahmose.
