Dr. Muhammad Mukhtar Jumaa, Minister of Endowments, praised the decision of the Prime Minister, Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, and the Anti-Corona Committee, to allow Tarawih prayers to be performed in mosques with the time period not exceeding half an hour only.
The Minister of Endowments stressed during his meeting with the leaders of the ministry today at the headquarters of the ministry’s general office, that Egypt and the political leadership adopt the principle of moderation and did not prevent Egyptians from performing Tarawih prayers and the spirituality of Ramadan, and then the decision was to allow Tarawih prayers for a period of half an hour and under the conditions that preserve people’s lives and health.
The Minister of Endowments stressed the limitation of work in mosques to prayer, the Friday sermon to no more than ten minutes in the sermon as followed, and the continuation of opening mosques ten minutes before prayer and closing them after prayer, including Tarawih prayers, and the continued suspension of all advocacy activities, including lessons, caravans and memorization sessions. And so on.
The Minister of Endowments also stressed that all employees of endowments should apply these controls decisively and firmly, and he also cautioned that all directorates must submit a memorandum to the head of the religious sector to quickly close any mosque or prayer room for women that does not adhere to these procedures, and no mosque that is permanently closed is opened without written approval from Head of the religious sector.
The Minister of Endowments decided not to allow any regular leave during the days of the holy month, and the formation of a committee headed by the head of the religious sector, the membership of the ministry’s undersecretary for advocacy affairs, the minister’s undersecretary for mosques and the Holy Qur’an affairs, the deputy minister for inspection and oversight at the General Court and all the directors of the directorates and their agents in the regional directorates. The head of the committee submits a daily report to Minister on the progress of work at the level of the Republic.
