Investigations of Sohag train collision: a tower observer who used “hashish” and a driver’s assistant

The Public Prosecution announced the results of the investigations into the collision of two trains in Sohag Governorate.

The results of the “analysis of substance abuse issued by the Ministry of Health” revealed that the superintendent of the station tower “Maragha” had taken the substance of narcotic hashish, and the assistant driver of the distinctive train of substance and the drug “tramadol” had taken.

The prosecution stated in a statement issued today, Sunday, that the investigations revealed that the distinctive train stopped before the crossing of Al-Senussi, located between the two stations of the Maragha railway and Tahtah for several minutes, then moved it past the two crossings, and stopped it again until the Spanish train came from the Sohag railway station and collided with the stopped train .

According to the Public Prosecution, the accident resulted in the death of twenty people, and the injury of one hundred and ninety-nine, and resulted in damage to the trains amounting to twenty-five million, eight hundred ninety thousand, five hundred and eighty-three pounds.
