Manchester City, England, snatched a thrilling victory from its guest team Borussia Dortmund, 2-1, in the meeting that brought the two teams together Tuesday evening, at the Al-Ittihad Stadium, in the quarter-final first-leg competition of the UEFA Champions League this season 2020-2021.

Manchester City ended the first half of the match, beating the Belgian star Kevin De Bruyne’s goal in the 19th minute of the match, after following up on the pass of the Algerian star, Riyad Mahrez.

The video technology “Var” canceled a penalty kick that the City team referee had awarded in the 30th minute to the German team player Emre Kahn.

With the end of the second half, the match was ignited by Borussia Dortmund captain Marco Reus scoring the equalizer in the 84th minute after following Haaland’s pass.

But Philip Foden managed to score the winning goal for Manchester City in the last minute of the regular time of the match, to lead his team to a valuable victory before the second leg.

Man City qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals after overcoming Borussia Monchengladbach in the European round of sixteen, by winning the first leg with two unanswered goals and then repeated their victory with the same result in the second leg.

Dortmund booked his seat in the quarter-finals at the expense of Seville, Spain, with difficulty, as the German team won the match away from home by three goals to two, before a positive tie was settled 2-2 in the second leg at the “Signal Iduna Park” stadium.

It is worth noting that the return match between the two teams will be held on April 14th at the “Signal Iduna Park” stadium, the stronghold of Borussia Dortmund.
