Paris coach on the Bayern meeting: The sporting revenge is always there

The Paris Saint-Germain team does not put its defeat by Bayern Munich in the final of the last version of the Champions League, in its calculations when it faces him again on Wednesday in the first leg of the quarter-finals of the continental championship, but the French team will not forget its revenge completely.

“The atmosphere is now completely different,” said Mauricio Pochettino, coach of Saint-Germain.

Pochettino was not coaching Saint Germain when he lost to Bayern with a goal in the final of the last version, but Thomas Tuchel was the one who was in charge.

Pochettino added, “But when it comes to sports revenge it certainly is always there.”

The nature of the confrontation differs this time, as the first leg is held in Munich, with Paris hosting the return match in Paris, compared to the final match that brought them together in Lisbon during the last edition.

But the face of the current version is similar to the previous one in that it is held without an audience due to the Corona pandemic crisis.

Pochettino expects fierce competition from Bayern, despite the absence of his Polish striker Robert Lewandowski due to a knee injury, in addition to the absence of international wing Sergei Gnabry due to his infection with the emerging Corona virus.

The Argentine coach explained, “The source of Bayern’s strength lies in team play. If you win the Champions League and World Cup clubs such as Bayern, you must have a strong team.”

Saint-Germain misses the efforts of Marco Verratti and Alessandro Florenzi due to infection with Corona, while Leandro Paredes is absent for suspension.
