Paris on the renewal of the contracts of Neymar and Mbappe: There is good news soon

Leonardo, sporting director of French football club Paris Saint-Germain, hopes to have positive news soon about the contract extension of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar.

Paris Saint-Germain entered into negotiations with the duo Mbappe and Neymar, whose contract with the club expires in 2022, amid reports that there are Spanish clubs wanting to join them.

Mbappe’s name has long been linked to a move to Real Madrid, while speculation continues that Neymar’s name will return to Barcelona, who left him for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017.

When asked about the duo after Mbappe scored two goals that led Paris Saint-Germain to beat Bayern Munich 3-2 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals, Leonardo told Sky on Wednesday: “I think we’ll have some news that will make us all happy.”

He added, “Soon we will have a more realistic situation regarding Mbabe and Neymar’s contracts.”

Mbappe scored eight goals in the Champions League this season, becoming the most French player to score goals in one season in the championship, equally with Wissam Ben Yedder in the 2017/2018 season and David Trezeguet in the 2001/2002 season.

Since his first participation in the Champions League 2013-2014 season, Neymar has scored 26 goals, and he is the player to score the most. The Brazilian player participated in 67 goals (scored 41 goals and 26 assists) in 66 matches in the tournament.

Leonardo received a question about the position of Gianluigi Donnarumma, Milan goalkeeper and the Italian national team, whose contract expires at the end of the current season.

Donnarumma, who worked with Leonardo before the latter returned to Paris Saint-Germain in 2019, has been associated with the French club, Manchester United and Chelsea in the past.

“I’m not talking about transfers now, Keylor Navas is a great goalkeeper,” said Leonardo.
