Bernard Madoff (82 years), known as the “crook of the century” and the prince of the “Wall Street” exchange, died in US prisons on Wednesday, according to “Novosti” agency.
The US authorities confirmed Madoff’s death at the North Carolina Federal Reserve Medical Center.
Bernard Madoff is the largest recognized financial fraudster in the history of the world and the United States. He is one of the founders of the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, an American investment advisor, financier, businessman and banker.
In 2009, Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison after being convicted in a case of fraud involving thousands of people, worth 64.8 billion dollars, and the case was known as “Ponzi”.
Madoff’s trick to his clients was to promise to give them a steady, high return on their money, before directing the new investors ‘money to pay off old clients’ returns.
