I wrote – Yasmine El Sharkawy:
The artist Tamer Farag criticized the team of the series “King Ahmose”, which is scheduled to be shown in the next Ramadan season 2021, through a video clip he published in which he expressed his dissatisfaction after the appearance of the actors with beards and the actresses with dyed hair, stressing that these details are important but were overlooked.
For his part, the archaeological researcher Ahmed Al-Senussi, the historical reviewer of the series, responded to the video of “Faraj”, and wrote on “Facebook”, saying: “To the gentlemen who do not understand and claim to know while they are ignorant of what they are, there are many hadiths about the chin and that the ancient Egyptian did not have a chin. Are you researchers or just heroes on Facebook? Your opinion will not shake me with anything because I know what I do well. “
And “Senussi” used pictures from the murals of the owner of a beer factory, and an ancient Egyptian doctor who appeared with a beard, and commented: “Now what do you think of the owner of the beer factory with this chin ?? What do you think of a doctor treating a patient with a chin and cladding on the violin ?? And what do you think of a statue? Prince Ra Hoteb, wearing a veil with a slight chin, is only visible when approaching the statue. “
Tamer Farag responds to the publication of “Al-Senussi”, saying: “Professor Ahmed Al-Senussi very much regrets your historical fallacies that you listed while you were a fellow tourist guide and archaeologist. The impurity which is not correct to be on the ancient Egyptian who used to purify himself by shaving and circumcising males, and as for the king, who is the most sacred and purest body on earth according to the ancient Egyptian, it is not correct at all to have a beard or hair, so the borrowed chin and wig appeared. The beer factory If you look at his features, you will easily find that they are African features, evidence that that man is not Egyptian, and the evidence is also that his chin and hair are wrinkled, which are clear African signs .. If you look at the references and in his written name, you will find that he is not Egyptian.
He added: “Secondly, the attending physician will find that his chin is a borrowed chin connected to a black ribbon and not hair for the ears because the doctor had a reputation for being able to wear a false chin, but it should not be as long as the chin that the king wears, so you will find that it is a short false chin. As for the goatee of the other man.” It is likely that he is not Egyptian, as there were many non-Egyptian communities who wear the robe of Egyptians and imitate them, but keep what distinguishes them from them, such as goatee … and on the assumption that these men are Egyptians with tastes .. That is if this may be the exception that does not spoil the rule.
And he continued: “Thirdly, Prince Ra Hotep had a healthy, light mustache, but, sir, we must not forget that he was a prince and not a king. He did not rise to the sacred status that makes him completely cleansed of hair, and we must not forget that Ra Hotep was in the ancient kingdom where he was not at that time. That purified and sacred concept of the Egyptian’s body was entrenched, so we find the same effects of the mustache on the statue of the engineer Imhotep, the architect of the pyramid of Djoser. As for King Ahmose, he was in the modern state in which the concept of the holiness and deity of the king had been established until Ramses reached in that period to deification, and overlooked the difference in time between The two eras is a great historical fallacy. “
Tamer Farag added: “Your saying that Ahmose during that period is still a fighter and not a king, it is another fallacy. Even if he did not reach the throne during the reign of Sqnan Ra and Kamis, he was not still an Egyptian prince and not just a fighter, and what applies to the Egyptian rulers must apply to him. I ask you to review your position, and there is nothing wrong with admitting the mistake, and you have all the best. Tamer Farag is an Egyptian representative now, a man of antiquities and a former tour guide.
Tamer Farag returned and commented on the discussion between him and Al-Senussi, saying: “This was the defense of Professor Ahmed Al-Senussi, the archaeological researcher and tour guide, who was clearly the historical reference for the King Ahmose series, and this was a response to him … and you have the verdict.”
He continued: “It is clear that the mistake is not with the makers of the work, nor the producing company, Synergy and Aroma … and it is clear that the mistake is not with Amr Youssef or director Hussein Al-Manbawi … the mistake, unfortunately, by a fellow archaeologist who did not give the scientific trust the right to investigate, scrutinize and give the correct opinion to the owners. Work … and again by saying, God willing, the series breaks the world and remains a good opening for the production of more of this type of historical work. My words are to take precautions and avoid mistakes in the coming times … with my best wishes for everyone who participated in this work with success and success. “
The promo of “King Ahmose” was criticized after the first advertisement was revealed, because of the clothes in which the heroes appeared and the appearance of men with a beard, which some saw as a departure from the usual form of the pharaohs.
The series “The King”, the story of Naguib Mahfouz, script and dialogue by Khaled Diab and Sherine Diab, directed by Hussein Al-Manbawi, co-stars Amr Youssef, Majed Al-Masry, Saba Mubarak, Reem Mostafa, Mohamed Farrag, Sawsan Badr and Amir Salah El-Din.
